I Nearly Had my Fingers Burnt

Have you been frustrated, knowing that information is on the Internet but unable to find what you are looking for, or even possible links?

I have had a wish to have more to do with the Internet and often thought about “Retail Selling” by this method. I searched for months and it seemed that I was floating on the high seas, with no direction, changing direction at the whim of the currents.

Around October 2008, I had a ‘Spam’ e-mail inviting me to a seminar, in Sheffield, on Internet Selling, no doubt due to one of my ‘clicks’ on various sites! It was sent to me by ‘Stores-on-Line, (An American company). They were setting up a number of ‘meetings’ in this country and I was invited to attend for £25.00, a free lunch and ‘I-pod’ into the bargain and an Express Stores-on-Line Merchant web site access. (By the way, the lunch was a sandwich and a drink!)

Great! I thought. What have I got to loose. I can even get some experience of my own web-site for £25.00, so I signed up and attended this introduction day out. This was a sprat to catch a mackerel. I was then invited to attend a full day course on Internet Selling and the Store-on-Line services.

I went to this as well.

This was actually a high pressure, (And Very Cleverly designed and produced), day to entice one to sign up to a £1999.00 (Special price Offer) which included the first web site built for you and u to 6 further web sites at no extra charge. For £3999.00 I think there was unlimited sites available. Both these offers had many ‘Important’ web tools at your disposal. I was nearly caught up in all this ‘hype’. However, I decided to think about it before signing an expensive contract.

I was sitting next to a young switched on market trader, from Nottingham. We got on quite well and we decided to stay in touch. He did sign up for the lower priced package.

To date, although he visits China several times per year and has his own label imported direct, he has done nothing with his web site opportunity and basically, it was £2k wasted on “Stores on Line”.

I kept looking around the web. I logged on to sites like Alibaba, e-Bay, World Wide Brands, Salehoo, Dropshipping in USA and Britain.

I was looking for a ‘Drop Ship’ system as I have no storage space and it would be difficult, (Aand an investment too),  if  I had to send out parcels, insure them and package them, apart from getting them to the couriers. Drop Shipping was the only way I could see of making a success of Internet Retailing at the time.

When I looked into the actual ‘BASE’ (Discounted) prices of what I intended to sell, it was clear that I had to sell at below the Wholesale prices that were offered to me. I almost gave up at this point; I was very disheartened.

A few days later, (I don’t know how,) but I came across John Thornhill’s web site. At first, I was apprehensive, thinking a something for nothing, (Free gifts and the like) would end up asking one to part with money.

John Thornhill wasn’t like this! Through his sales patter and blurb, I had a distinct feel that here was a down-to earth person, who called a spade a spade and was dead straight and honest

Having been ‘caught’ before for small sums, I was very hesitant and didn’t do anything. About a month later, I had a communication explaining that he was taking on a small number of ‘students’ and would coach them up with a personal, One-to-One 16-week course. This would start right at the beginning.

This appealed to me. I had the feeling that here, (At last!) was someone offering something at a fair price, for good value for money. I was being offered a service, starting right at the beginning, something I had not seen before. John was also offering to ‘teach’ everything he knew, with nothing left out!

As a semi-retired person these days, I have to be careful with my money but at the same time, needed another source of supplementing my pension. John gave me the impression that I could be taught the complexities of web sites, marketing, and all the other things you have to do to get started.

I am still completing my course with John. Every week, I have a target amount of work to achieve. Not too much, as many videos as necessary to show you each section and how to go about it, together with his voice-over guiding you all the way.

I am delighted with his teaching and explanation methods. If I have a problem, however simple or small, nothing is too much trouble. I contact him and I receive a prompt reply, when things are usually sorted.

John passes on all his experience and knowledge and holds nothing back. There is a great deal to learn and one has to know so much to get started. This is not a problem on this Personal Course, John feeds you in bite sized amounts of information and makes sure that every point is understood before moving on. I cannot recommend The John Thornhill Personal Tuition enough.

I am finding it really enjoyable and interesting and can hardly wait for the following weeks instructions to arrive. I also have a reference ‘library’ on my PC if I need to refer to a function and have forgotten how to do it.

If you use your PC on a regular basis and would like to earn extra money with your PC, through the Internet but haven’t enough ‘know-how’, do consider the John Thornhill course. I am certainly having my money’s worth and the knowledge will stay with me. I find it enjoyable being more proficient on the Internet too!
